Ancestral Ritual to Activate Peace in Your Lineage

Ritual Items needed: Dried cacao [handful] and dried lavender [pinch to handful] + an offering bowl.

Purpose: Use for lineages that are broken, suffered extreme upheaval and losses, for current or past conflict in unhealed family issues/trauma, for an ancestor or elder who worked hard and needs to rest, to recognize ancestors that sacrificed, to allow spirits to finally rest especially if they are stuck/lost or are in the process of transition and crossing over.

Timing: Year-round, especially significant after a recent death in the family or cutting ties and setting boundaries with family members. Anytime of day works. Preferrable during a NEW MOON cycle.

Steps:

1. Write on a clean new paper who and how many ancestors you would like to activate peace for on their behalf with their full names if you have that information, but first names are just as effective.

2. Fold this paper into tiny halves until it becomes a folded paper in the shape of square or rectangle that fits in your palm. All names on one paper even if you are mixing your paternal and maternal lineages works. Or, you can do two separate papers for each lineage and perform this in two separate bowls for each lineage.

3. Recite your intention aloud of why you want to active peace and why the spirits should rest and how you are introducing new rituals, behaviors, mindsets and lifestyles that create peace in your personal life and how you interact with family.

4. Place paper inside an offering bowl any size. Add your cacao and lavender on top of the paper. Place both of your palms over the offering bowl in a cupping position and visualize your intent of love, peace and tranquility to these ancestors. This can be as short as 15 seconds or as long as ten minutes. You decide.

5. Place this on your altar or a safe place where you recognize your ritual work. You can also leave this at a burial or grave site.

6. Toss this after 13 days in a trash doesn't have to be a dumpster. Re-do this ritual as needed.

Why Lavender?

Lavender is a plant of peace, protection and tranquility - it's a soft, but strong plant spirit. This plant is connected to lunar properties and helps soothe the heart chakra and activates the crown chakra.

Why Cacao?

This is a sacred ancestral spirit to those of us with MesoAmerican, Central American roots and ancestry. Yes, you can work with this spirit respectably without misappropriating it by giving respect to the Indigenous elders and ancestors who have worked with Cacao. If you don't have cultural ties to Cacao, why use it? Respectively, this spirit is rich in heart chakra medicine. It opens up healing, forgiveness, empathy, love and a deeper connection to all spirits of this Universe.
